Read →Updated 2026-09-24The Magus Circle is a survivors-like roguelite where the attack button is replaced by your hand: you draw arcane sigils on screen to cast spells while a Tide of cosmic monsters closes in. Between runs you retreat to the Magus Mansion, raise familiars, brew potions and learn why you were summoned. This site documents what is verifiable — official pages, store data, and what 195 demo players actually experienced.

What to do first
- Fix your input before run one — tablet users must disable Microsoft Ink or strokes won't register (controls guide).
- Learn one sigil properly during the slow opening minutes, then weave movement and drawing (beginner guide).
- Respect mana — the limit stops you spamming the strongest spells; cycle cheap shapes and bank mana for surges (spells & upgrades).
The three systems that decide a run
- Drawing reliability beats raw spell power — if the recognizer drops your stroke, the best upgrade tree is useless. Angle, speed and FPS are the three failure causes players documented.
- Mana ceiling forces rotation across your 20 spells instead of one spammy favorite.
- Mansion progression (familiars, potions, garden, wagers, six mages) is what makes the next run start stronger after you die.
FAQ
Is The Magus Circle like Vampire Survivors? The store calls it a "vampire-survivors, rogue-lite game" — same wave-survival skeleton, but spellcasting is hand-drawn instead of automatic/procedural.
Do I need a drawing tablet? No. Mouse works out of the box; tablet and touch are supported (with the Microsoft Ink caveat). Controller works via button-press mode.
Is there a demo? There was — 216 reviews at 97% positive, 21,000+ players at Next Fest. It was delisted from the store on launch day.
How many spells and upgrades? Store page: 20 spells, 600 possible upgrades. The developer's site says "250+ unique upgrades." Both claims are documented with sources on the spells page.
Does it have accessibility options? Yes: slow-time and freeze-time drawing, button-press mode, adjustable difficulty, play-at-your-own-pace, save anytime — full table on the controls page.
